Mr. Amine Michel Khoury founded Eastwood Schools in Lebanon in 1973.
Educational Pioneers
Eastwood College in Kafarshima adopted an international curriculum that served the wider Lebanese community who sought holistic educational experiences. Even though the campus started operating with 125 students, the school’s continued growth attracted foreign nationals and soon became a top choice for students from expatriate and local communities. In 1985, serving a different geographical population, a second school, Eastwood International School (EIS), was opened in Mansourieh.
Eastwood Schools worked toward filling a significant gap in the Lebanese educational market by providing an American High School Diploma and the Lebanese Baccalaureate Program for graduating students.
Eastwood Schools also opened its first Special Rights Program nationally and an outstanding English as a Foreign Language Program. International academic and non-academic standards were soon implemented with the help of leading consultants from across the globe.
Eastwood Schools’ journey continues until this day with a successful track rate over the last 50 years and with certifications from globally recognized institutions, such as AdvancED/Cognia, and effective implementation of various international programs, such as the International Baccalaureate.
The history of our school campus is one of destruction and rebuilding.
It was completely destroyed during the civil war, but with the help of a dedicated team of teachers, staff, community, and above all, our founder, Amine Khoury, it was rebuilt and re-opened in 1991. Our school campus is a testament to the resilience and determination of our community, as well as the strength of our relationships. It is a reminder that even when faced with adversity, we can come together to create something new and prosperous. We are proud of our school and its history and are thankful for the hard work and dedication that have gone into rebuilding it.
