english as a foreign language |
The English as a Foreign Language (EFL) program is designed to help non-native speakers of English who need support before they gain the level of English fluency they need to participate fully in regular academic classes. Students in the program study in small classes designed to meet their diverse language backgrounds and learning styles. The basic skills - listening, speaking, reading, and writing – are taught at various levels within the department to enable students to gain a working knowledge of English. As the student progresses and fluency is acquired, full integration into the mainstream classes ensues.
The curriculum is enhanced by having students of different nationalities and background within the school. EFL outings and field trips to cultural heritage sites and places of environmental interest all reinforce the curriculum. Students gain confidence, self-respect and mastery of the English language.
